Raising Mini Scientists: A Peek into Our STEAM Laboratory in Lipa
- Ducky's Play and Development Centre

If you walk into a traditional preschool classroom, you will likely see rows of desks, alphabet posters, and neat rows of tracing paper. But if you walk down the halls of Ducky’s Play & Development Centre in Brgy. Tambo, Lipa City, you will hear a very different sound: the sound of water splashing, blocks clicking, gears turning, and children gasping in absolute wonder.
Welcome to the Ducky’s STEAM Lab—the beating heart of inquiry-based learning in South Luzon.
Far from a generic playroom or daycare center, this specialized innovation hub is where Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math come to life for children aged 1.5 to 7 years old. Here is an exclusive peek inside our lab, and a look at how we are nurturing the next generation of innovators, creators, and critical thinkers right here in Batangas.

The Architecture of Curiosity: No Desks Allowed
Our STEAM Lab is purposefully designed as a calm, breathable sanctuary for the mind. Free from the overwhelming, colorful clutter of standard playschools, the lab is laid out in intentional "Discovery Zones."
On any given morning, you might see a cohort of our Playschool toddlers (ages 1.5 to
3) gathered around a sensory light table. They aren’t just messing around; they are exploring the physics of transparency, shadows, and color theory. With our strict 1:6 teacher-to-student ratio, an educator is always right there, introducing rich, scientific vocabulary like opaque, reflect, and absorb at the exact moment the child’s brain is fully engaged.
Failing Forward: How Engineering Builds "Cognitive Grit"
As our children grow into the Pre-Kindie program (ages 4 to 5), the challenges in the STEAM Lab evolve. Here, play becomes a form of rigorous, child-led research.
If a child is fascinated by buildings, we don't just read a storybook about it. We head to the construction zone of the lab to design structural blueprints. Using specialized architectural materials, the children test how much weight a bridge can hold before it collapses.
When the bridge falls, a Ducky’s student doesn't cry or give up. Thanks to our focus on socio-emotional logic, they view it as scientific data. They ask: Why did it lean? What can we change? This is where Cognitive Grit is born—the resilience to face a complex problem, analyze a failure, and have the confidence to try again.
The Intersect of Art and Math: Creative Coding
We believe that true science requires profound creativity. That’s why the "A" in STEAM is deeply woven into everything we do. Children use geometric tiles to create complex mosaic patterns, exploring the foundations of fractions and symmetry through visual arts.
Even early technology is introduced without harmful screen time. Through tactile, physical coding blocks, our students learn the logic of sequencing and algorithms—the building blocks of computer science—by physically guiding a robotic toy through an obstacle course they built themselves.
Reigniting the Spark for Older Learners
The magic of the STEAM Lab isn’t just for our preschoolers. For our older students up to 7 years old enrolled in our Afterschool Reading and Tutorials, the lab serves as a powerful bridge to academic mastery.
When a grade-schooler is struggling with an abstract concept in their big school homework—like the water cycle or fractions—our educators pull them out of the textbook and into the lab. By physically interacting with the concepts through hands-on kits, the frustration melts away. Their confidence is restored, and they return to their schoolwork with a deep, intuitive understanding of the subject.
The Ducky’s Promise: Setting the Benchmark for Early Learning
We protect your child's right to be wonderfully present in their childhood today, while ensuring they are completely equipped with the mastery to lead the world of tomorrow. In a world where standard education relies heavily on rote memorization, Ducky’s ensures your child knows how to think, not just what to think.
We aren't just teaching science; we are raising independent, brave thinkers who are truly Life Strong and School Ready.
Come Peek Inside the Lab Yourself.
Because our 1:6 ratio requires us to keep our cohort sizes small, available cubbies at our Brgy. Tambo center are highly finite. Most Lipa City families secure their slot during their
very first visit.
